Topic: The RRC Brownfields Response Program is currently assisting the Galveston Bay Foundation and the Chambers-Liberty Navigation District on assessing and cleaning up historic abandoned oil and gas facilities on a lovely and unique 500 acre Turtle Bayou Tract.  The Turtle Bayou Tract consists of upland forests, vast wetlands, the cypress-lined Turtle Bayou, and Lake Anahuac shoreline.  The RRC will work with the stakeholders of the site to develop the best plan to cleanup relict oil field equipment using the Oil and Gas Regulation and Cleanup Fund.  Once completed, the Galveston Bay Foundation will use volunteers to assist with removal of invasive species, creation of a nature preserve and watershed protection land complete with interpretive trails, paddling, and nature-watching areas.
